Garfield has been working as a photographer in Frome since 2018. His primary photo subject is heritage architecture and his archive, which currently stands at around 900 images - reflecting all periods and types of domestic and commercial dwellings - will be donated to the Frome Society for Local Study in 2028. He is currently collaborating with the Society on preparation for an exhibition about Cheap Street; one of the town’s two iconic thoroughfares. Thousands have been able to enjoy his work through the social media site ‘Fabulous Frome'. One particular set of images – of a derelict pub – garnered more interest than the previously most successful post, about the Foo Fighters!
Alongside the long-term project of photographically recording the fabric of the town itself, he shoots commercial portraits, home interiors and ‘street’-type documentary images.
